Saturday Mini- Workshops in Essoyes, France

What:  Mini-workshops can be warm-ups to or “sample tastes” of a full workshop; refreshers after a workshop; or stand-alone opportunities to be inspired to start (or re-start) your writing; encouraged (to persevere, and continue); energized (or re-energized) for the work ahead. They do not need to be taken in sequence, and will be offered from time to time throughout the year.

Who: Our mini-workshops and walking tours of Essoyes are led by Janet Hulstrand

When:  Mini-workshops meet from 2-5 pm on Saturdays.  The guided walking tour of the village begins at 6 pm, which leaves participants just enough time to enjoy a dégustation de champagne in the village, between the end of the workshop and the beginning of the walking tour. The tour lasts about an hour, and will include stories of the life the Renoir family in Essoyes as well as (outdoor) views of the Renoir home and studio; some of the spots where Renoir painted landscapes; and the family burial plot where Pierre-Auguste Renoir, his wife Aline Charigot, and their three sons are all buried.

How to Get to Essoyes: Trains from Paris Gare de l’Est to Troyes leave frequently, and the trip is about an hour and a half. You can rent a car in Troyes, and drive to Essoyes, about an hour’s drive through beautiful countryside. Or you can come to Essoyes by taxi from Troyes or Vendeuvre sur Barse (the next stop on the train after Troyes). Upon request, we will help facilitate ride and/or cab-sharing among participants.
